Google +1 for businesses is coming around the corner. Does this mean goodbye to the Facebook Fan page we all pulled our hair out to try and optimize while learning FBML (shoot me)? Probably not. But, as Google debuts the +1 for businesses I believe the pages will make a formidable opponent to the already seemingly old FB fan page.
Google +1 for businesses speculation
So what will it look like? Google +1 business pages, I imagine, will incorporate all of the +1’s gathered via the web much like the Facebook “likes” are housed on the fan page. In addition, Google I’m sure is trying to +1up Facebook so expect enhanced profiles for businesses, modern layout and enhanced UI. Also, a social stream would not seem out of the question and possibly even an option for a Twitter feed, although Google is trying to do this alone.
The official comment from Google is below (from Mike Blumenthal’s website)
- Jeff Huber, Google VP of Local and Commerce, has indicated that Google+, at some point in the near future will include the option for business profile page.
Here is his comment:
“And pre-emptively answering a question — yes, we will have (smb) business profile pages on Google+. I can’t announce a launch date yet, but we want to make them *great*, and we’re coding as fast as we can.”
Hopefully there will be a beta invite soon as the business profile will provide a nice compliment/alternative to the FB fan page.
